Emma Watson to Star as Belle in New Disney Film

Ex-Harry Potter star and one of Hollywood’s classiest starlets, Emma Watson has announced that she will be starring in the new Disney live action film, “Beauty and the Beast” as Belle.

The announcement came from Watson herself via Facebook stating, “I’m finally able to tell you… that I will be playing Belle in Disney’s new live-action Beauty and the Beast! It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I’ll get to dance to ‘Be Our Guest’ and sing ‘Something There’. My six-year-old self is on the ceiling – heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can’t wait for you to see it. Emma xx”

According to Disney, the film will begin filming later next year and as Watson stated, she’ll be needing some singing lessons, which basically means, they are keeping the “Beauty and the Beast” classic a musical (sigh of relief). The film will be directed by, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” director, Bill Condon and produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman.

Could this new “Beauty and the Beast” take on Frozen” when it comes to love, devotion and most importantly, ratings? With Watson at the lead, it will definitely give it a run for its money.

Elsa vs. Snow White Rap – Disney Just Got Real

Elsa vs. Snow White in a rap song? Things just got real! In one corner you have the dark haired beauty, porcelain skin, rosy lipped, first Disney Princess Snow White; backed up by pals Cinderella and Aurora (Sleeping Beauty). In the other, you have the fair haired, pale, snow, winter loving sparkly, all out awesome, Elsa, Queen of Arendelle! Her backup? Fellow Queen’s to be Tiana and Merida!

Adolescents beware, this is R rated due to harsh language. That’s right, the ladies of Disney bring on the smack talk as they rap it out.

“Duuuudeeee!”

The plot will revolve around Dory and her unforgettable forgetfulness. She will search to discover who she really is because she doesn’t really remember; with the whole short-term memory loss thing. The story takes place 6 months after ‘Finding Nemo’ and will include new characters.

According to Pixar President Jim Morris via TheCollider, “The movie will be mostly set at the California Marine Biology Institute, a huge complex of sea life rehabilitation and aquarium, where Dory was born and raised,” Morris said. “We will get to meet new characters, like an octopus, sea lions, a beluga whale, among others.”

Ellen DeGeneres will be returning for the voice of Dory and some new voices such as Albert Brooks, Eugene Levy and Diane Keaton, will be joining the cast.

Let’s not forget our friends in the tank! William Dafoe spoke to Total Film stating, “Yeah, I’ve already started. It’s even better than the first. It’s fantastic. It’s good to say I think it’s going to be better than the first; that’s good advertising!”

Possible ‘Hocus Pocus 2’?

For all of you 90s kids out there who claim to watch movies like ‘The Shinning’ or ‘House of a 1000 Corpses’, we know you’re really home rocking out to Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy in Hocus Pocus. Come on, we are 90s kids, this is what we grew up with, and no, we are not ashamed.

In an interview with Reddit AMA Midler stated, “Inundate the Disney Company, because I have canvassed the girls (Parker and Najimy) and they are wiling to do it, but we have no say in it, so if you want a HOCUS POCUS 2, ask the Walt Disney Company. You have been SO adorable. This has been most enlightening. SISTAHS!”

DeeDee – From Hlohovec to Hollywood

Not many people can say they are living their dream. Not many can say that they love their jobs or did what they set out to do. Some fear failure, some even fear success. Some just find a reason to exist instead of live. There are a few, however, who stay on course, defy the odds and make life their own—the go-getters, trendsetters, the ones we envy and want to be, the determined, the defined, the fearless.

For Deedee Benkovich, growing up in Hlohovec, Slovakia was like living in a movie— the picturesque, artistic charms, traditional small towns. Known as the Rome of Slovakia, Hlohovec had its own little bit of history, evidenced by the remnants of the Renaissance-Baroque castle built in 1720 that reminds everyone of the Erdődy presence to this day. However, this talented Dáma (to quote Tangled) had a dream.

“I went to High School in Trnava, even got my first BA degree there, but it was all going to end with a job I wouldn’t enjoy doing. I grew up in a small town, with big city dreams. So I decided to give it a shot elsewhere.”

Attending London Metropolitan University in London England, she spent three years earning her BFA in Film and Broadcasting, focusing mainly on Screenplay. “I started watching TV shows like ‘Bones’ that really drew my attention to writing. In my spare time I started writing my own ‘Bones’ episodes and it was so much fun I decided this is what I want to do professionally—write stories for the screen. My dream of Film and TV world started to become a reality when I moved to do a Filmmaking bachelors degree in London. I always wanted to live in London and this was a great moment to combine my love for film and London. At this point I completely found myself and my goal in life became crystal clear.”

When she completed her time in London, she continued her studies here in the good ol’ United States of America in Tinsel Town as we call it, Los Angeles. Soaking in the sun, mingling with Hollywood’s finest as well as finding her way into the writing world of screenplay, DeeDee graduated from The New Work Film Academy with her Masters in Screen Writing.

With her heart set on Disney, her work is mainly for younger generations. “I’m writing a feature film for Rough Diamond Productions with the British Producer Julia Verdin, who is well established in Hollywood. It’s a family comedy feel-good movie. And it’s going to be awesome. I’m also involved in writing and drawing a sequential art piece (comic book) with my writing partner. It’s going to be a 4-issue series for young readers 7+ and I can’t wait for everyone to see the final project.”

“My work is inspired by the simplicity of a smile. I love writing for kids and my favorite genre is comedy. Seeing a child smile because of something you wrote/created is the best. Seeing the magic in their eyes when they see a Disneyland castle is something that I’m going for. The world is full of drama. Don’t get me wrong, I love watching dramas, hence my love for Bones, but I also watched every bit of Gossip Girl. It’s just not who I am as a writer. I want to bring the positive, happiness and magic that inspires kids and create better people.”
